Gingerbread House question

Can you build one with regular icing, like the kind in a can?  I ask because Hikari's class is building them tomorrow and they wanted each kid to bring in a bag of candy and a container of icing.  So I looked up the recipe and made a batch last night.  Turns out the teacher wants store bought icing!  How can you build a gingerbread house with that? It doesn't stick or harden enough to hold up a house!  Have any of you fine ladies ever made a gingerbread house with plain old icing from a can.

I think it will be fine. Icing is icing. It all hardens.

Hikari said the teacher will use it but it wasn't what she wanted.  When I was a kid my mom made the icing and we took it in.

We've done it but its best to build the house the day before so it can harden or it will slip apart.
