I've been brought up in a very frugal family.  All six siblings have learned to do all we could by ourselves.  Growing up we were encouraged to join and participate in the boy/girl scouts and the 4-H club which gave a great start in life. I have 3 brothers that have built their own houses and a husband that does the electrical work needed. We all garden, compost, reuse, recycle and always look for courses to learn more so we can do more.  We are now in our 50's and 60's and we are not as agile as we once were, but we are well educated on the way something should be done.  I do feel money spent on quality education is money well spent.

I find it very hard to splurge, if we do decide to purchase or have something done, I research, ask a lot of questions  try to get the best bang for our buck.  But I must admit, having something done by someone else we do find many mistakes being made because we have learned the proper way it should be done.
