I know most of the mamas in here are married, so I'm assuming not. Anyhow... Does nc always award retroactive child support? I've been reading about it, wondering what I'm getting myself into, and I am jus curious.

In bed, staring at the ceiling, and trying to convince myself to get started. It isn't working

The attorney said that since there is not an original child support order in place, and he has not made any efforts to pay any voluntary support, he will be ordered to pay retroactive child support. The limit for that in NC is 3 years.

If this is true, gah, I feel a bit of guilt. I shouldn't, but I do. :/

We went to cse but the appointment isn't until next month, so I really have no information about what's going to happen.

As far as i know, he will be ordered to pay from when the papers are filed. By i dont have a lawyer so it may be different.
Dont feel bad..he should be willing to pay.
My ex took off to god knows where so he doesnt have to pay..my ex is a huge looser

I think it depends if you ask for it.  I can't say for sure because I am not a lawyer, but I do know a bit about child support in NC.  If you ask for it, then the judge will hear and see evidence and decide whether or not to give back support.  If you don't ask for it, the judge probably won't consider it.  I don't think it is a given

I think it's pretty rare for retroactive. Generally it's from when the papers were filed. Circumstances like not filing because you couldn't locate him however... I could see it go retroactive.
