I've started spring time planting!! :-D

I bought two blueberry bushes this morning, both loaded with buds. I also ordered two mulberry trees, six cherry bushes, and three blackberry bushes. It's on, ladies!! :-D Hubby is putting a garden fence up for me this week. So excited!

The syrup sound delicious.

Quoting JustThe10ofUs:

They are very tart...not something you'd pick off of the bush and eat raw....but when put in jam and pancake syrup they are fabulous! :)

Quoting Rain2Rinse:

Oh! Send me jam! I don't know that I've ever tasted a choke cherry :/

Quoting JustThe10ofUs:

They are supposed to start producing the second year. The fruit is more along the lines of a choke cherry in taste. I plan to get a lot of jam out of these bushes. ;)

Quoting Rain2Rinse:

I may have to check it out. How long does it take these bushes to mature??

Quoting JustThe10ofUs:

I bough them from gurneys.com. They have $1 shipping through the 14th...no minimum purshase.

Quoting MamaPeanut:

Cool! I want a cherry bush!!

It is! :) I'm a big fan of wild berries that you don't typically see in the grocery store. Most people never have a chance to taste them because the shelf life is so short. Like mulberries...they are amazing but don't last a day without being put up. I had 13 mulberries trees on the farm...I would an entire week picking and preserving. Short harvest window but YUM! :-)
