Long day tomorrow **update**

Posted by   + Show Post

Matt's hydrogen breathing test was moved to tomorrow (thank GOD!). It wasn't until the very end of March. He's missing so much school with the stomach problems..gas, cramps, nausea, diarrhea...I feel so bad for him.

So I need to leave work early so I can be home by 7, wake him up, so we can leave by 7:30 to get to Manchester. The test will take about 4 hours.

I'm not even going to think about seeing my pillow until 1:30...IF I'm lucky.

Anyone know where I can score some intravenous caffine? LOL

**So the normally 6 hour test was stopped after 2, because Matt's numbers were so high. The dr said he "blew high numbers before we even gave him the lactulose". So he's been diagnosed with SIBO, which is Small Intesting Bacterial Overgrowth. It's an overgrowth of bad bacteria in his small intestine that has been giving him the nausea, cramps, diarrhea, gas pains. 2 weeks of a GI specific antibiotic, and 1 month of probiotics. Hopefully with the antibiotic he'll start feeling better in a few days. It's something that can come back so obviously it's something that he'll live with. The dr said if it comes back (and "it could") that we'd do antibiotics/probiotics again, but if it came back a 3rd time he'd add dietary changes. We see the dr again in April. I think I'm going to ask about the diet then. I have my kid back! He was joking around, talking (I mean, REALLY talking to me)..he feels validated. That there really IS something going on and it's not "just me or in my head". Thank you again everyone for the positive energy and prayers!! They certainly helped!****

My first pedi I hated. Kept them for (unfortunately) 6 years. The next pedi I had was wonderful. When we moved I got a family doc, that way when they got older I didn't have to change again.

Well I'm glad you got something to stay awake :) and I have Dartmouth for my ob but I didn't like their pedi dept, they were really pushy and gave me terrible advice as a first time mom, I'm glad I didn't listen and changed. Now I love her doc as a person but not so much the practice. I wish I could find somewhere I love.

It's really a relief to have an answer. Even my ds said "mentally I feel better". So far it seems to be, he woke up this morning and didn't feel as bad as he's been feeling and went to school. He's even lost the green hue.

So happy you have answers!!
I hope the treatment plan works

I don't know how they find these wonderful docs, but I'm glad they do!

I see an ortho in Manchester, he's awesome! I've yet to see a doc I didn't like. Even the podiatrist I saw for my plantar fasciitis was fabulous!

one of my twins has celiac and food changes didnt help. Do you know kiddos with celiac shouldn't have cows milk because cows eat wheat and it passes into milk! Also soaps and toothpaste contain hidden gluten.

Funny you should mention that...about the cow's milk. When my kids were babies, niether of them would drink or could tolerate whole milk. I had to give them 1%, anything more gave my eldest diarrhea, and my younger son would even drink it, he'd spit it out.

I didn't know that about toothpaste, and soaps.
