I can't do this again

Because of reasons that will better our family, we have to give up our two cats. My daughter knew today was the day (she's 4) and hasn't stopped talking about it. It pains me everytime she says 'Daddy has to give them away?' or 'Prince can stay here...he really wants to'. I am dying inside and feeling like a horrible mother....I need support right now, ladies :(

I didnt know you had found somewhere for them to go. I am glad they have a home to go to.

I am sorry that you are all so saddened by this, but I guess you did whats best for you all right?

So, just remind yourself and your daughter that this is what you have to do.

It is a hard thing to do. I can't imagine having to do that, my heart goes out to you.

We decided to keep the younger one. The older one did not get along with DD at all...so I guess it worked out.

That sounds like a nice compromise.

He's quiet, actually. He was just going around the house and eventually climbed up and slept with me. He did great.

good luck. Our younger cat, who always got along with the dog and not the older cats, moped for more then 6 months when we had to rehome the other two for their own safety from Cace. He was a wreck. The first few days I think he thought they were just at the vet or something, but then he realized they weren't coming back and he was so depressed.
