Does a candidate's age concern you when you're voting?

We've had some older candidates in the past and now have a young one in the form of Paul Ryan, 42. Some say he could revitalize the Republican party with a "youth injection" as it were, and some say he's too inexperienced to do the job.

What do you think? Do you consider a candidate's age when you're voting?

Experience has more importance to me than age. Ryan Inexperienced? He has a lot of experience.  Starting in college,  he worked as an aide to legislators Bob Kasten, Sam Brownback, and Jack Kemp, and as a speechwriter before winning election to the U.S. House in 1998. In his early years working on Capitol Hilll, Ryan supplemented his income by working as a waiter, as a fitness trainer and at various other side jobs. He's served 6 terms, authored many bills, and do-sponsored many with Democrats, reaching across the aisle to get consensus. He's chairman of the House Budget Committee. He has a lot of experience, more than 20 years, but unless you follow politics, many people may have never heard of him before.

I don't consider age when voting. Experience is an issue and Ryan does have experience.

I can see how it might seem like a younger candidate lacks experience, but at the same time, having less experience might also be a benefit as he may not be as ingrained in the party line and as apt to follow whatever someone else suggests since he's still hanging on to his own dreams that put him in the spot. I think Ryan, however, has enough experience to put him there regardless of age. I'm still not voting for him and Romney, but it isn't age that's preventing me from doing so.

On the flip side, however, if a candidate seems old and senile, it does make me less likely to consider voting for them if their running mate isn't a suitable VP.

It isn't a factor. I look at their track record and proposal for the future, as well as a host of other things, but nothing so superficial as age. Well, usually.

LOL! Yes, McCain had me very concerned about his age since he seemed like a doddering old man half the time, and it scared me to think about him winning, dropping dead, and having Palin become President.

The latter is a big reason the Republicans are having a hard time right now, I think, too.
