Mitt Romney refuses to take questions from children on ‘Kids Pick the President’, Obama participated

October 8, 2012

Nickelodeon states that Mitt Romney opted out of the chance to take part in a “Kids Pick the President” special that includes his President Obama. The  TV channel for children said Monday that the Republican Presidential candidate declined to be involved in the special, while President Obama participated, the AP reports.

Videotaped questions are included in the program for the candidates from children across America. Afterward, viewers can vote for their pick for president.

The show’s host and producer Linda Ellerbee said that candidates show “respect for kids” by answering their questions and called Romney’s decision disappointing. This isn’t the first time Romney has shunned questions, but it is from children.  I’m going to wager a guess – the disrespect shown, will cost Romney votes with children today for their pick. Perhaps children have more common sense than adults, considering the the number of Romney supporters — some of which did not care for him only months ago. There is something wrong with a politician who cannot take children’s questions, yet feels he can lead the most powerful country on Earth.

The Romney campaign did not immediately respond to phone and email requests for comment.

In the Nickelodeon special, Obama is asked about issues including jobs, immigration and bullying.

It will air on Oct. 15, with no answers from Mitt Romney.

Love this!!!

I don't see why this is a huge deal to you Obama supporters, but you overlook Obama's lack of meeting up with World Leaders and attending his daily intelligence briefings......seriously overlooking the big picture here people!!!

And Romney pissed off every single country he visitis. He pissed off the UK, pissed off Isreal, pissed off Poland... and YOU think he can't build relations with these people?? NOT EVEN CLOSE

Quoting CABZS:

It is our President's job to meet w/World Leaders, to build relations with them.

According to a few & according to a few in Obama's party he has failed at this.

Nobody ever said he had to make every meeting, but should be doing more than what he has done.

Golfing & fundraising are not reasons to turn down meetings.

Quoting quickbooksworm:

We have a Secretary of State for a reason. World leaders meeting and having dinners is more about show than anything else. Until the President can clone himself 6 times over, people are always going to complain he's not doing what they think he should he doing. If he made every meeting with foreign leaders people would say he needs to focus more on domestic issues. Its a no-win.

Quoting CABZS:

But the President needs to deal w/adults; not children.

How he talks to children does nothing for me.  And doing this appearance doesn't show me either candidate cares about education.

I care more about other things, like the fact that nobody gives a crap all the times Obama said no to other world leaders.  Why isn't that a big deal yet Romney saying no to kids is?

Quoting quickbooksworm:

I think it shows where his priorities are. Candidates go to these things to prove to the parents, who are the ones voting, that they care about educating and involving the next generation. How an adult speaks to children says more about them than how they speak to another adult.

Read my very first reply in this post "answering questions from children won't make me vote for Romney either."

Therefore, I'm not voting for either of these idiots.

And so Romney can't and that is the defense you have for Obama?  I wonder when will people stop pointing fingers at someone else all the time.

Obama failed, what is his excuse? Golfing, fundraising, campaigning & his last excuse: family time.  Take out golfing, replace that w/family time & you have more time to do your job.

Very well said!

Quoting CABZS:

Yet it was ok for Obama to pretty much call everyone in Pennsylvania his first campaign a bunch of rednecks & look down on us bc we cling to guns & religion, lol.

So many things Obama & said & done is overlooked; that really bothers me. Even now the things he says & does is overlooked.

Quoting mas2124:

Over and over, he's shunning voters. And then downs those who turn their vote to Obama. That's poor leadership-he's refusing to see how his own actions are affecting voters. That makes me believe he has an external locus of control....so if he was president, would he ever take credit for his mistakes, or always be passing the blame to someone else?

And before you ask, I've not paid much attention to this during presidency, so maybe they've all been external. I just know that this is the first time a presidential nominee has left me feeling like poor white trash who has no right to vote.

Poland? Yet if I remember the former head of the Polish labor union endorsed Romney.   And yeah um they don't like Obama; or is that another thing we are overlooking for Obama but not for Romney?

Many are Ron Paul supporters & yes held signs for Ron Paul when Romney went there.  Guess what, they would've done the same for Obama.

So please tell me where he pissed off Poland?  Obama surely did.

In Israel who did he piss off?  There are quite a few not happy w/Obama as well, or are we ignoring that as well?  Now I know Romney ticked off Palestinians; is that what you meant?

And yeah he upset Britian a bit w/his comments prior to the Olympics which I believe were worries of them not being ready or them not running smoothly.  Seems that should always be a concern.  But ok.

I find it silly that people would use this as a determining factor in whether or not he should be president.

Obama has taken less time, to date, than GWB did. By about half. And how does a mess get made over 8 years and only 4 to clean up? Never once did Obama say he could have it done in 4 years. And shall we talk about the Republican majority congress that had stated publically that they will do whatever they have to to get Obama booted. They have voted against job creation, and John McCain went so far as to vote AGAINST a bill that gave incentives for businesses to hire vets! And he was a POW!

How is this shunning voters?  You have to be 18 to vote.  These are children, not voters.

This very one-sided, OPINION-BASED "article" does not accurately give information.  There is no explanation as to why Romney turned it down.  Obama-supporters just love to assume the worst and try to depict him in bad light.  All they do is say that he said no.  That's not a complete story.  Where's the "why?".

Did I say it would only take 4 to clean up?  No I did not.  However, from what I know Obama has made it worse.

Again w/the Reps did this, never about what the Dems did.  You do realize that when the Dems have majority they do the same thing right?  Or do you think it is only the Reps that play like this?

And can't blame everything on the Reps, they don't always have majority.
