T'WAS THE NIGHT BEFORE CHRISTMAS IN MIAMI
‘Twas the night before Christmas and all through the town
No noses were frozen, no snow fluttered down.
No children in flannels are tucked in their beds,
They all wear their shorty P.J.'s instead.
To make leaves of holly is not very hard
For Florida holly grows right in the yard!
In front of the houses are Dads and Moms
Busy stringing lights through crotons and palms.
The slumbering kids are dreaming in glee
Hoping to find water skis under the tree!
They all know old Santa is well on his way
In a Mercedes Benz instead of a sleigh.
In high gear he whizzes and zooms down the road,
He is in great haste to deliver his load.
The tropical moon gives the city a glow
And lights up the way for old Santa below.
And soon he arrives and gets right to work
He hasn't a second to linger or shirk.
He jumps from his auto and gives a wee chuckle
All dressed in Bermudas with an ivy league buckle.
There's not even one chimney, but that causes no gloom
For Santa just comes through the Florida room.
He stops at each house and unloads their share
Oh, boy, he'll be glad when his big sack is bare!!
Before he departs, there's a treat for himself
A big glass of orange juice left on the shelf.
Then he turns with a jerk and jumps into his car
Remembering he still has to go very far.
He shifts into high gear and steps on the gas
And up the expressway he goes in a flash.
And I hear him exclaim, as he goes on his way,
MERRY CHRISTMAS, MIAMI ,
I WISH I COULD STAY !!!!
