Do you let your younger children dress themselves?

Posted by   + Show Post

I have a three year old son who is beginning to want to pick out his clothe and dress himself. I let him if we are staying around the house, but he is so mix matched. I'm not ready for the public to see him. lol.

at home, yes. If we go out, I coach them through what to wear and how to match their clothing.

We've always let the pick their clothes. When they were tiny like (9-20months) we gave them a few options. But now that they are 20 months
and 4yrs the girls pick out their outfits 98% of the time.

I pick out his clothes, but anything that he can put on I let him.
Sometimes, I give him a choice between two shirts.

Unless it was for pictures or something we have to look nice for, I let them pick their clothes out when younger. I figure, what the heck, people will know the kid picked the outfit. Dd is almost 7 and still comes up w/ some outfits that I not-quite-cringe at, but at least she has her own sense of style and isn't afraid to express it : )
