Exhaustion and anxiety are so prevalent today, that we are actually accustomed to being sleep deprived, and our kids are feeling it too! Clinical Psychologist and Sleep Specialist, Dr. Janet K. Kennedy is here to help us get our Z’s!

Do you feel exhausted all the time?

Nope. I get plenty of sleep. But my daughter sleeps well (knock on wood) and I go to bed early. If I don't get enough sleep, I feel terrible the next day.

If you don't fall asleep within 15 minutes...???

Riiiiiigggghhhhttt

I have to be drop dead tired or took allergy med to drop out that fast. My brain always decides it's most awake when it hits the pillow. Even before becoming a mom and tons of technology. I've just always been one of those people who it takes longer to fall asleep. I love sleep,I live for weekends with no alarm clock. But I'm not one to insta-sleep. My husband on the other hand-boom-he's out within 10 minutes.

I didn't even know I had sleep "issues" until we bought our new bed this past week, I feel so much more aware, and sharper now that  I am sleeping through the night and actually getting REM sleep. I feel like I can get soooo much more done and I am happier and more there for my kids and not just trying to get them to nap so I can too lol :)

Sleep is good ;P

I feel exhausted on the days I don't take a nap.

Yeah, I'm exhausted. My 2 1/2 year old has never slept well. She wakes up several times a night and calls for me, which wakes both DH and I up. Sometimes she wakes up 10 times a night (no joke). I don't think I've got decent sleep since before she was born...

Considering that I have not slept for more then 2 hours at a time for at least a week, yes I am beat. Yes, I do think it effects the way I parent my children as well as my relationship with coworkers and my husband.

I've gone through phases of exhaustion and sleepless nights. It's inevitable sometimes. Glad I get enough sleep now, though!

I'm not exhausted all the time, but often enough.  I do need to get to bed by 10 more often.

My boys sleep well most of the time, but I do wonder if the 4 yo is getting enough sleep.  He doesn't fall asleep as easily as my 5.5 yo.  He's more likely to be crabby & uncooperative & moreso if he is tired. He always wants a night light which my 5.5 yo occasionally complains about.  I wonder if the night light is hurting more than its helping.

I am giving the 4 yo a new night light that shows stars on the ceiling & turns off after 20 minutes.  I wonder if that'll help him get to sleep wo disturbing his older brother.
