Because we WANT to feel good about ourselves.  Even if we don't, we don't want anyone else to KNOW that we don't like ourselves.

I completely agree with SlightlyPerfects's answer. Unfortunately that is the world we live in. I try not to let my daughter focus on looks considering she is only five.

While I do agree with tis,
I know for me I feel better wearing make up .. do you ?

I agree that technology feeds off of our insecurities. That is why I think if we took one day a week or a month to just not go online or look in a mirror it would only better us.
