Resolutions... I know many folks that just don't make them. They never stick and, usually, they aren't that fun. You never hear someone say, "Oh, my New Year's Resolutions? Watching more TV and gorging myself on chocolate every day." I've thought about my resolutions of years gone by and realize they are similar...and stay on my To Do list for most of the year.
I ran across this list made by Woody Guthrie (the talented singer/songwriter behind "This Land is Your Land" among a bunch of other hits). He wrote it at the end of 1941, looking to 1942...he was 30.
1. Work more and better
2. Work by a schedule
3. Wash teeth if any
4. Shave
5. Take bath
6. Eat good - fruit - vegetables - milk
7. Drink very scant if any
8. Write a song a day
9. Wear clean clothes - look good
10. Shine shoes
11. Change socks
12. Change bed cloths often
13. Read lots good books
14. Listen to radio a lot
15. Learn people better
16. Keep rancho clean
17. Don't get lonesome
18. Stay glad
19. Keep hoping machine running
20. Dream good
21. Bank all extra money
22. Save dough
23. Have company but don't waste time
24. Send Mary and kids money
25. Play and sing good
26. Dance better
27. Help win war - beat fascism
28. Love mama
29. Love papa
30. Love Pete
31. Love everybody
32. Make up your mind
33. Wake up and fight
Now these, these aren't just resolutions. They are a list of how to live life. Pretty cool, no? Makes me want to revamp my resolution list a bit.
What do you think of this list by Woody Guthrie? Why do you -- or don't you -- make resolutions?

Quoting MichelleK41:Half the list I'm sure is already completed. =)
For him, yes, but we need to accomplish (again) what was done back then. Except, maybe, sending Mary & kids money. lol
I don't makd any it seems pointless!
Quoting Juniper53098:That is a good list. I don't make resolutions because January 1st sshouldn't be when you choose to be healthier or happier. It should happen all year long.
I agree!
I do like this list, thank you for posting it. It is a way to live life.
This is how I feel too. We should be able to make goals and choices anytime so it's when we are ready and maybe not so much pressure.

It definitely is! The world would be a better place if we all lived this way.
I feel the same way
Quoting natesmom1228:I don't make them because it's just not something I ever got into.
