Picky Toddler Help.

Hi ladies.

My son is 3 and is the pickiest eater I cant even figure out how to cook for him anymore. :(

Since he was 1...my mother in law got him hooked on fish sticks and shrimp poppers. He refused to eat anything else for dinner since then.

For breakfast he likes: Oatmeal and pureed fruit, french toast sticks, pancakes, or yogurt.

Lunch: Its usually fruit (grapes or apple slices) and yogurt. Sometimes if we are out and about he gets french fries and apple slices.

Dinner....well...he is tired of eating fish sticks or shrimp poppers but he isnt willing to eat anything else...this has been an ongoing battle for almost two years.

He doesnt like meat...chicken, beef, pork, sausage, peperoni, nothing...no variation.

He doesnt like : Eggs, Bread, Carrots, Broccoli (he used to when he was younger), Cheese, Hummus, Tomato, Cucumber, Celery, Asparagus, and the list goes on and on.

He does occasionally like : Eggplant Fries (baked)

He is allergic to: lavender, pineapple, and nuts.

I am at my wits end.

Any ideas?

I'm probably no help but my kids ate what I ate. When they get hungry they will eat...

1 mom liked this

I require that my kids eat 1 bite of whatever I make.  They cannot snack or have desert if they don't eat that bite.  You can also use ABA to get them to eat.  Find something they want.  Tell them they have to eat 1 bite and then they can do what they want for 5 minutes.  Then they have to come back and take another bite to earn more fun time.

I agree,
You can try to get him to take at least one bite of new foods.
Otherwise he will eat when he gets hungry but it shouldn't be what he always wants :)
