Cake Mix Cornbread from the Betty Crocker site!

You Need:

Cornbread Batter

2
pouches Betty Crocker® cornbread & muffin mix
2/3
cup milk
4
tablespoons butter, melted
2
eggs

Cake Batter

1
box Betty Crocker® SuperMoist® yellow cake mix
1/2
cup vegetable oil
3
eggs

To Make:

  • 1Heat oven to 350°F. Grease 2 (18x12-inch) pans with shortening or spray with cooking spray.
  • 2In separate medium bowls, make cornbread batter and cake batter as directed on pouch and box. Pour both batters into large bowl; beat with electric mixer on medium speed until combined. Pour evenly into pans.
  • 3Bake 20 minutes or until lightly browned.
  • 4Cut each pan into 6 rows by 4 rows. Serve with your favorite chili or soup.

Tips:

This makes a lot of cornbread. You can always freeze one pan for another meal.

Tastes great with a smear of butter and a drizzle of honey!

1 mom liked this

I'm from the south, we don't eat our cornbread sweet. Interesting recipe, though.

I don't find corn bread to be such a huge struggle to mix the 7 ingredients for that I need a mix.

They put crap into those that I can't buy at a grocery store, so I'll still to scratch baking.

I used butter recipe yellow because we didn't have plain yellow. It is really sweet, more like cake than corn bread. Df thought the recipe sounded gross but he thinks it tastes decent.

It's good, but there's just something not right about it. I also used 2 9x13's. And cooked for about 25 minutes.

Thanks for the review! So the real question is are you sending it to work with DH or keeping it? lol

Well i made 2 pans so we will keep one and send the other to work. I definitely agree with it making a lot. I would save some for future use but we will forget about it in the freezer.
