Personal Responsiblity.

My Dad taught me never to make excuses or blame others for my own problems.  He taught me that having a plan - and working that plan - is the way out of any mess.

Now, whenever something bad happens or something big is coming I immediately start planning and I feel optimistic and hopeful about the outcome.  I've often had friends ask how I can be so calm when trouble comes - and I just tell them it's thanks to my Pops! :)

Honestly?  Not to drink.  My dad has been an alcoholic for as long as I can remember.  He taught me how to fish, I guess, but it's not something I utilize all the time.
