Chuck says the way to keep your kid's nose away from the screen is to limit the time to 1 hour per day.

I keep track of the time, and give her a 10 minute warning before I take it away.

my kids don't need a limit. they are usually running around playing and not watching the tv.

We don't have to. They don't watch much of it anyway.

We watch one show, and that's it.

For games they get 30 minutes and have to earn anther 30 minutes by reading. They only get to watch tv or la gams by getting all their chores done. I also make sure the go outside to play and stuff

That's a good idea that Chuck has.  I will be limiting a lot more when school starts!

That's a good idea!

Quoting mnmo3bb:

They earn an episode or two per day (about 45 minutes) and sometimes we do a family movie night :) They earn TV time by having their chores done and it's something that can be (but rarely is) taken away for bad behavior.

My dd prefers to be outside, so this isn't an issue for us.
