Chuck says the way to keep your kid's nose away from the screen is to limit the time to 1 hour per day.

I set the oven timer and when it goes off, time's up!

I don't really have a problem with my kids and screen time.  They would rather be doing other things.

For me I am in the same room and allow one hour. Then its off to play other things.

I just let them know how long they have and tell them when that time is up.

They earn an episode or two per day (about 45 minutes) and sometimes we do a family movie night :) They earn TV time by having their chores done and it's something that can be (but rarely is) taken away for bad behavior.

We don't have any  rules set up, we are busy so some days we have very little time and some days I let the have lazy days iniside to watch tv. They never complain when I say tv time is up and even when I let them have extra time the tv is on but they are usually playing in the same room.

I let them watch one show before bed and before a nap usually.

Ds gets about two hours sometimes a little more. I need to limit to one hour.
