Kids, Electronics and Restaurants

Kids using electronic devices to keep occupied at a restaurant is a fairly normal occurance these days.

Do you give your children something electronic to play with at the table? If so, do you allow the device to play music and other sounds? If not, do you think it's rude to not mute the sound on the device?

Our son plays with electronics at restaurants with limitations. He can only play between ordering and food arriving. Nothing before or after.

The sound has to be muted. It's a common courtesy.

No they don't. My youngest is the most rowdy but she isn't too bad.

we usually play a game or talk. I HATE when the electronics come out. If they do I confiscate them until the next day.

I think it is extremely rude when people don't mute their devices.

Not usually.  I'm more of a "whole family at the dinner table" kind of gal, and there are always napkin games and I spy type games you can play if the wait is long.  I do think that the sound should be muted if they have an electronic device, as it is rude to other diners.

No, the ones that have them aren't allowed to take them in the car unless it's a long drive.
So they don't go in resturants.

We don't eat at places where that would be tolerated. It's rude and disrespectful for a child to have a device in a restaurant. Maybe parent should start interacting with their children.

sometimes, we limit but not a lot. At restaurants we don't really use them.

My daughter is grown now. Hubby and I play with our phones at the restaurant sometimes

No, they aren't allowed to bring it to a restuarant.
