Yep, it's an anti-rebound bar. From what I understand, it's a Britax only thing. Seeing that Britax is one of the top brands in safety, I'm sure it's another thing on the seat that'll help absorb the shock in a car accident.

I am starting to look into those carseats. I have an Evenflo for my LO and I have a Chico Keyfit for the baby (used from my last baby) but I'm looking into a convertible for when the baby is ready.  Probably not till age two. My LO got out of the infant seat not too long ago.

This is the carseat we are getting for our little man. It is a little on the heavy side (really no worse than any other quality infant seat) but an awesome product. Money well spent. Same with their strollers and FF seats as well.

Had I known of the saftey aspects of this bar I would have bought this one. But I didn't know any better. Now I do. At least I have a seat that is good for little babies I guess. It starts at 5lbs.  tend to have small babies. I am looking at Britax for the next seat for this baby. My toddler is still RF in her convertible but when she is ready to turn around and outgrows her seat I will probably get a Britax. Still looking. I have a lot of researching to do. I hear th eFoonf is a good seat too. IDK just looking around.
