One trick that I've incorporated into our meal routine is to have a "cheat night", usually on Fridays. We eat homemade, healthy meals for breakfast, lunch, and dinner except for on "cheat night." I make homemade pizza dough and the kids "decorate" their own pizzas. I will also make some chicken wings and nachos, or a spinach and artichoke dip, or some other appetizer that I'm craving.

Salty foods and appetizers are my weakness (I can take or leave chocolate) and even before we had kids, I found that having one "cheat night" gave me the willpower to eat healthy the other six days of the week. I know that Friday is coming and that I get to eat ALL OF THE THINGS.

How does it work in your house? Do you incorporate a "cheat night" to keep you on track/indulge for a change?

Yes, we do have a cheat night.  Sometimes it seems everyday though.

I used to have cheat days but now I just follow, everything in moderation.

 We have a cheat night sometimes. I normally make my pizza homemade. It's healthier that way. We order out though too.

A couple times a year we will have an 'appetizers for dinner' night, just for fun.
