DWI at 18!!

My DS is 18 and extremely immature.

I was DX with MS when DS was age 13. He was a great kid polite, but my MS got very severe and my Ex DH took on custody because of how bad my MS was getting at one point. In fear of DS safety if I fell or couldn't walk or move during an episode, it was what I thought was the best fit for him.

Boy was I wrong. He has "grown" to be rude, disgustingly disrespectful, out of control- He even bails on me for our plans.

He drinks with my ex. I told ex DH my DS was not ready for a car due to his behavior, and not even a week after my ex buys him a 3,345 used 2001 Honda, my 18 yrs old DS was arrested yesterday for a DWI!

I am in tears and guilt for ever allowing him to stay with his father. His father said it was not that serious!

He is facing 30 days in jail, 4,000 in fines, DL taken for 3 months, AA program for 3 months !

His breathalyzer came out to a .9%!!! He could have killed someone!

And my ex thinks it's not that serious!

I can not even get upset due to fear of having an episode!

I am not bailing him out either

That so sad and I hope your DS learns a lesson but with his father saying it no big deal I think your DS will also think that.  Good luck to you!

It is not your fault!

Do not blame yourself

Your ex failed him

My daughter was killed by a drunk driver. Maybe your POS kid and Ex need to watch how horrific a highspeed accident with a drunk is.

My daughter was 17 and was hit head on by a drunk going 88 in a 30 mph zone.

My daughter was in pieces . I had a closed casket because of how graphic it was !!

No big deal though!

Not mad at you OP i am livid at tour ex for his selfish mental state of mind

Well maybe this is a big fat wake up call they both need. You tried to warn him! Your ex should totally be on the hook for the cost of the fines and court fees. Thank god he didn't kill anyone.

Your ex is an idiot, I'd be so mad too! I hope your son can learn from what happened.

It's good that you're not bailing him out.  This is their failure, not yours.

I'm guessing you meant .09?  A BAC of .9 would kill almost anybody.
