Picky kids

My boyfriends son is beginning to be very picky. He won't even touch the food I give him and asks his dad is he can have candy instead. Since he's not my child I feel I can't get involved but it makes me sad because the son is 3 and he never eats healthy. And when I make him food it's healthy with veggies. His dad will cave in and give him what he wants. I don't know what to do. Or should I just shrug my shoulders?

Not much you can do other than talk to your boyfriend about how he's hurting his son by giving in to him and allowing him unhealthy foods before he's eaten the healthy things.

I agree, since it's not your child not much you can do. Talk to your boyfriend. Make veggies different ways and offer them. Leave a plate of healthy snacks out and let him much on them. Maybe show your boyfriend how to prepare them.

I think in this case you must pick and choose your battles depending on :

  • How often is the child in your house ?
  • What will the child eat ?
  • is the father doing this to buy his peace ? save you the trouble ? or he just caves all the time ...
  • is it worth it ?
