So.. had an ob appointment this afternoon and decided to take the kids to ChickFilA afterwards. Within 10min of me eating, my jaw/neck area started to swell. I was watching it swell! It was insane and painful! I called dh to tell him that I was headed to the er because it was swelling soooo fast. I was really worried that it might be a clot. So, mil met me there and took the kids with her while I went in. Dh couldn't come from work but, since they weren't rushing me, I told him not to worry. Anyways, thorough examination reveled that I have a.....

DRUM ROLL, PLEASE!!!

A salivary duct stone! Freaky! Never ever heard of it. Apparently, it's calcification of saliva and it clogs the duct. I go to a specialist in a couple of days. I hope it passes on its own but I'm terrified of it!

EEEEK!! O.O

-----------------

Everything is getting much better :) no more pain. It's still gross though because of the infection coming out :x

I hadn't either! It swelled so fast while I was eating because you make extra spit to chew your food. Because of it being blocked, it just pooled in the duct making it swell. After a couple of hours, the swelling goes down but comes back full force when I eat again.

It's really really sore from all the pressure and it hurts insanely bad when it starts salivating. The only way to describe it is its like when you put a sour candy in your mouth and your jaw tingles and hurts. Times that by a thousand. That's when it's actual intense pain. Other than that, it's like I've been punched and have a bruised jaw.

Ouch! I used to get lock jaw and that would be sore for what felt like forever!

Oh God! My mom had one last year and it had to be cut out (hers was an extreme case). Try lots of sour candy and lemons if you can stand it! I hope it passes soon and quick!

You're the first person that knows what I'm talking about! Lol! I googled like mad last night because I'd never even heard of it. I'm so worried about *maybe* having it cut out.

I'm getting my prescription filled and some sour candies today... didn't have time yesterday. I hope I can tolerate them. I could barely eat a piece of pizza last night.

Seems to be doing a little better this morning. It's lunch time and I've still not eaten. I'm so scared to. It hurts so bad when I do.
