Sharpie

How do you get it off the walls without taking paint off as well? Our three year old got a sharpie (I have no idea WHERE) and drew on the wall while I was dealing with the chaos of our older three getting home from school. UGH! I'm so frustrated.

Magic Eraser or try nail polish remover or rubbing alcohol.

Ooohhh, not sure. You might have to paint over it.

I would try the magic eraser, but be prepared for it to take the paint off too.  It will be easier to paint over that then the sharpie marks itself.

I'd try those things but most likely you'll need primer then paint

How to Get Sharpie Marks Off of a Wall

Sharpie is a brand of permanent-ink marker available in a variety of colors, none of which you are likely to want on your walls. But Sharpies, like so many other items within reach of little hands, can find their way into a child's possession. If you find an unwanted mural on the wall or just a stray Sharpie mark, common household items can help you remove the ink without marring the paint underneath.

Things You'll Need

  • Hand sanitizer containing alcohol or rubbing alcohol
  • Paper towels
Show More

Instructions

    • 1

Spray or squirt hand sanitizer containing alcohol onto a folded wad of paper towels. Alternatively, pour rubbing alcohol onto the paper towels.

    • 2

Press the damp paper towels against the Sharpie marks on the wall.

    • 3

Blot the marker stain to lift ink from the wall, using fresh paper towels and more hand sanitizer or rubbing alcohol as needed. Avoid scrubbing or rubbing the stain, as this will smear the ink on the wall.

    • 4

Blot the wall dry to remove residual hand sanitizer. Rubbing alcohol will evaporate in approximately 10 minutes.

Magic Eraser, and then paint over the area because it will likely take some paint down to the primer.

Yeah, probably have to paint. I'd try plain alcohol, but don't have much hope.
