And how did you learn?

Our children take swimming lessons twice a year, each time for six weeks, from the time they turn five years old. They're pretty pricey, even with the discount for having multiple children in the class.

I learned to swim when I was seven or eight. My father took us to the local pool and threw me in. It was very traumatic, actually, and not funny at all, even though he thought it was hilarious, but I did learn to swim. If there is ANYTHING positive to be said for his method it would be that it was cheap. ;)

I had lessons at the Y when I was 4 but I was too scared to let go of the edge of the pool!  I learned at 10 by watching other kids.  I'm still not a strong swimmer, but I want my son to be.

Yes. I grew up in MN and we were at the lake every weekend during the summer.

I know my parents had us take lessons at the YMCA.  They also taught us.  We are currently teaching our kids.

I don't remember learning how to swim. My four year old can swim.
