Issues with hitting?

For the past few weeks we have had an escalating problem with hitting. She began hitting my husband or I when we'd tell her "No" or replace an item she couldn't have with one she could. Now, especially when she's tired, it's a solution to all behavior for her. Even if she falls and trips she'll hit the nearest toy. I just don't know what to do about it. Have any of you Mommas had this issues? How did you deal with it?

M doesn't hit much, but I generally I grab her hand and say no.

Lucia doesn't hit but I would tell her no sternly and redirect her to do something positive.

Sometimes E will slap her leg when she's frustrated but she also does it randomly too. It's a hard age for correction I'd just say no hit and redirect.
