I bought my 13 month old daughter an awesome bed yesterday on craigslist. Step 2 princess castle bed. Can be toddler size or twin. I couldn't resist the great deal on it. She is a good sleeper. She asks for her bed at night. I just give a hug and put her in her crib and we blow kisses for a minute...thats it. She also loves her big brothers car toddler bed. Always in it! Even put herself down for naps in his bed a few times. But how young is too young ? can't decide how long I should wait to give her the awesome castle bed.  My son was 2 yrs and 2 months old when I moved him to a toddler bed, but he didn't even start sleeping through the night till nearly 16 months old!!

My oldest was almost 2 before we put her in a toddler bed and it was a nightmare getting her used to it. My younger daughter was 14 months. She was climbing out of her crib and sleeping on the floor, so we just went with it. She got right in it and slept all night. Part of me wishes I would have tried earlier with my oldest. I know it may crowd the room, but if you can, I put the toddler bed in the room with my younger one and left the crib up for a week. Once I knew she was doing good I let her make the decision which bed she wanted.

My oldest was 15 months, the toddler bed had rails built in so I didn't have to worry about her falling out. She started at nap time, then after a week she was sleeping at night in it.
Good luck

Michele has a great suggestion about having both up untill the transition.

16 months. We did the same thing as Michelle. We put the big bed right next to her crib. Naptime was the hardest, but she slept through the night in her new bed by the second night. 4 days later, we moved her and the toddler bed into her new room. Never had any issues adjusting!

Good to hear all those! I had been thinking maybe i was nuts for considering moving her soon, lol. Maybe will just leave the crib crammed in there to for a bit in case. I did that for my son, but like i said, he was over 2 yrs old...although i was still surprised he transitioned fine since he's my little pain in the butt child ;)

I think the younger ones want the transitions earlier bc they see their older siblings doing those things. If you're comfortable with it and she's good with it, I say it's the perfect time! :)

My son was 2 he was climbing out of the crib so we got him a bed cause I was worried he would hurt himself.

We had to move my son a couple months after he turned 2.  He ended up getting Toxic Synovitis in his hip and he kept climbing out of his crib so the doctor said he couldn't be in a crib anymore, so we converted it to a toddler bed.  The doctor was worried he would do more damage to his hip.  He had no problems with the conversion.  He loved that he could get in and out.  He is pretty easy with changes though.  I would have loved to keep him in longer, but we just couldn't.
