Every year I say i am going to take the kids next year and then I wait till the last minute and miss out on getting tickets.  Not sure with hubbys Fall and Winter schedule if we will be able to go, but looks super fun.

Have you gone on the Polar Express here or some where else?

What did you think, is it worth the money?

Frequently Asked Questions:

When do Polar Express™ tickets go on sale to members?
Tickets go on sale to members and volunteers at 12:00 a.m. September 5 through September 30. You must become a member prior to September 5 to take advantage of early purchasing of Polar Express tickets for 2012. Members and volunteers will receive a code that will allow them to purchase their tickets in the mentioned time frame.

What time does the train depart?
Boarding starts at 6:00 p.m. All trains leave promptly at 7:00 p.m. and the ride is about a 2-hour roundtrip. Trains will return around 9:00 p.m.

What should we wear?
Children are encouraged to wear their pajamas – many adults choose to wear theirs, too! The cars are let it snow, let it snow, let it snow!

Why Open Seating?
In order to offer the sale of tickets on-line, it can only be done by number of tickets available. The system does not allow for assigning seats. Given that cars can have mechanical problems, and changes then have to be made, it is a safer way to be seated. This year, we will undertake a theme-park style of seating (odds vs evens) which will make it even easier!

Gifts and Souvenirs
Please plan to come early and visit the concession car. A variety of food items, clothing and souvenirs are available.

Do we get off the train at the North Pole?
No…all activities are conducted on the train.

Are there restrooms?
Yes, on each train car.

Refunds and exchanges
Due to the nature of the event, there are no refunds or exchanges.

Wheelchair Accessibility Fully accessible cars are available on the trains out of Rockside and Akron. If you have special needs, please call our offices at 800-468-4070 (push #4 for Departments, then #3 for Customer Service) to book your ticket on one of these cars.

Will CVSR donate Polar Express tickets to my event or cause?
We do apologize, but given that CVSR is a not-for-profit, 501 c3, and the sales from this event allow the train to operate through the spring, we do not donate tickets for Polar Express. There is a charity run in which families with children in Children's Hospital, helped by the Leukemia Society, and other organizations are invited to climb aboard!

How do I buy my tickets?
First, you need to decide the date you would like to ride, and the station from which you would like to depart.

After you have that, Follow these steps:

  • Select the Purchase Tickets page
  • Select the date you would like to ride (change the calendar to November or December)
  • Select the station you would like to depart
  • Follow the remaining steps to complete payment for your order.
  • DOUBLE CHECK YOUR ORDER BEFORE YOU COMPLETE THE TRANSACTION – we will not be able to change your date, departing station, amount of tickets, or offer a refund if you did not choose wisely!
  • Check to make sure it is for the Polar Express! CVSR does offer a variety of trips and special events at this time of year. Make sure you are purchasing tickets for the correct program!
  • Check that you have selected the correct station from which you wish to depart! If you go to a station different from where you have tickets, you most likely will not be able to ride as the trains are sold out each night. Your money will NOT be refunded, nor your tickets exchanged!

Thank you for your support of Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railroad – your ticket purchase for this and any of CVSR's events, directly supports the operation and allows us to fulfill our mission statement:

To provide educational and heritage railroad experiences within the Ohio & Erie Canalway and provide alternative transportation to, through and within Cuyahoga Valley National Park.

My parents offered to get this for A this year.  Didn't realize the tickets sell otu so quickly!  So infortunately we have one deluxe ticket and standard ticket.  Haven't exactly decided who's all going with A yet though. D isn't going, probably figured it'd be too hard for him. We're going on Nov. 25th, A doesn't know yet but we've been reading the book a lot lately!

Oh, how cool.  I the tickets go fast.

How long is the ride they take, is there're activities?

What makes this so popular?

by Silver Member on Nov. 17, 2012 at 10:48 PM

The fact that it's the story in real life for the kids!!  It's the magic of Christmas, trains, Santa, and wearing PJs out of the house- what kid wouldn't love it?  I need to get a big girl job and save up for this next year!  :)

by Silver Member on Nov. 17, 2012 at 11:00 PM

I think it's the whole story of it and it coming to life for each kid! I LOVED that story when I was a kid, they used to read it every year the last day before Christmas vacation.  Course I've always been a huge Christmas everything fanatic but I always loved it.  They serve hot chocolate and candies and there's a special store, andyou get to ride the train and wear pjs! Adn the train ride is 2 hours.  Mom and Dad wanted to take A last year but I wanted to wait till he was older so he coudl really get into it and sit for 2 hours!! So excited too that he doesn't have preschool the next day!

We went last year and have tickets for this year too. We became members just so we could have first option at the tickets!! We did the St Lucia tickets. It was amazing last year and both boys had so much fun. That car has couches instead of the seats like the other cars and the "elves" ended up getting the kids down on the floor for the stories and dancin for the songs. It was def worth it for us! :)

would love to go to this!   Seemed like too much money to blow this year with cayla being so young and unpredictable if she'll cry for bed or not.  Definitely hoping for next year!
