What are your definitions?
Please introduce yourself and include your definition of "Frugal".
But I am becoming more and more aware of how much propaganda is out there to convince everyone of the what the societal norm is. For example, I hate those commercials for "fourth meal" from Taco Bell. I mean, they really are trying to convince us that you should eat Taco Bell after 10 o'clock.
I guess I would define Frugal as simplicity. Weeding out what we think we need, or what others tell us we need to find the basics. I think it is hard to think for yourself nowadays. I know I have a hard time admitting to myself that I don't "need" certain things, I just might "want" them. I want my son to grow up to be happy, healthy, and confident.

I'm Christan a SAHM with a baby girl almost a year old and ttc the second with my wonderful husband.
Frugal to me.. .hmm
I think it means not needing things that aren't necessary(or good for you!) like hospital interventions, fast food, furniture that costs thousands, etc.

Frugal living means using what's in season, preserving, reusing and recycling, making the most of what I have, getting it used or borrowed, and saving money for my family.

Hi out there! I'm brand new to cafemom and this group.
To me frugal living means not only living within your means, but thriving within your means!
It means being creative even when you can afford convenience.
It's showing appreciation for all your blessings by stretching them or sharing them or transforming them so they are as useful as possible for as long as possible to as many people as possible.
Thanks for this group!

Hi everyone!!!!
My name is Kari and I am a SAHM to a wonderful little girl that will be 3 on Aug 10th. My husband and I have been living our lives in a VERY frugal manner for the past 8 years. Everything we do in our daily lives works towards the goal of eventually living off the grid. We are raising our daughter to live a simple life and that her happiness doesn't need to come from the latest fashion trend or fancy new toy. We own our own business (a glassblowing studio) so as you can expect, money is something we stretch to the limit each month. We have found ways to make it work though and are able to put almost 1/3 of our yearly income into savings. We go without because we choose to not because we have to. We don't eat fast food ever, because it's so unhealthy and so gross when you think about what you are actually eating. We grow our own veggies organically and those we cant we get from farmers markets. I buy our clothing second hand or make it myself. Don't get me wrong, we are pretty "fashionable" people....I just don't waste my money on things that are brand new when I can get them for 75% off second hand and still is fabulous shape. We drive a used mini van and only put about 5K miles on it per year. We ride our bikes ALOT, we walk ALOT, we carpool ALOT. We do not have public transportation where we live so those that have that at their finger tips and do not use it are wasteful IMHO. WHY not???? I just try to live my live so that my daughter and other future children will have the chance to deicde for themselves. If we as a society keep consuming like we do, we will consume ourselves.
Greatest bumper sticker ever.....
"Live simply that others may simply live".
