I am new to the group, and just wanted to introduce myself.  My name is Sonya, and I am from Charlotte, NC.  This is my second time on bedrest, but this will be the first baby that I get to bring home with me.  I lost my first son at 19 weeks due to undiagnosed incompetent cervix.  During my second pregnancy I had a vaginal cerclage placed, and was on complete hospital bedrest from 11 weeks to 23 weeks when my water broke and I lost my precious son.  With my current pregnancy I opted to have an abdominal cerclage placed pre-pregnancy, weekly hydroxyprogesterone injections, and this got me to 30 weeks without any problems other than gestational diabetes.  The day that I turned 30 weeks pregnant I started having contractions and was sent to L&D where I spent the night.  They sent me home on bedrest until my doctors appointment today.  I have now been placed on bedrest at home until the baby comes and on oral terbutaline.  My c-section is scheduled for March 31 at 38w6d, and I hope that I make it that far.

I look forward to meeting everyone, and finding out what everyone does to pass the time.

Wow, I'm sorry.  You and I have very similar stories.  I lost my first pregnancy at 17 weeks due to an undiagnosed incompetent cervix.  I got up to use the restroom and the baby fell out of me.  No water breaking no warnings.  It traumatized me and my husband.  We changed doctors and got pregnant again in May.  We are having a c-section on Feb. 22nd.  I had two cerclage surguries.  The 1st was at 12 weeks bc they wanted to make sure there was nothing wrong with the baby first.  That cerclage slipped.  They did the 2nd at 14 weeks (Sept. 4th) and I was put on strict bedrest since then.  I am now 37 weeks and still on bedrest!  I can't wait to go home.  I've been at my in-laws since the Sept. 4th surgery.  I heard this group may be cancelled soon bc the owner does not want to do it anymore.  I hope that does not happen.

I am in California, Northern CA to be exact.  I have had to go to three doctors appointments a week including the two non-stress tests a week plus my regular dr who I just was sent back to from the specialist who did the cerclage.  He has been my primary dr since the surgeries.  What lengths we go to for our children!  I am having a baby shower this weekend.  I  hope I am able to sit the entire time.  My nieces are going to open the gifts for me.  I also have the g. diabetes and I won't even get to eat the yummy cake at my own shower!!!!
But it's almost over and they say the g.d. will go away once I have the baby.  We are having a boy.  What are you having?  Congratulations!  You will make it!!!!

I am so sorry to hear about your loss, I can't even imagine how hard that must have been. It is amazing what some moms have to go through to have a healthy baby. I am also on bed rest for the second time and am pregnant with my  third child. With my second child I was on bed rest for four weeks due to an incompetent cervix. With my third I have been on bed rest since 28 weeks and can finally get up at 37 weeks. I have three more days to go and am so ready to get up. My children are ready for this to be over as well. If I have learned any thing from my two experiences, I would have to say acceptance is key. The first time I hated every minute of it and was angry that I was there. This time I just accepted that it was what I have to do and it has been easier even though it has been more than twice as long. Family/friend support is another big thing you need. I hope you have a good support network, it really makes a big difference. Keep your chin up. In the end you get the world's best gift. I hope all works out well. I will say a prayer for you and your little one to make it and all be healthy.

I'm in Charlotte too and I 'm wondering who you used as your OB? Who performed your abdominal cerclage. I've had one loss and thats when my IC was diagnosed. I just wanna go for the abdominal cerclage.
