Gestational diabetes occurs when a pregnant woman, who hasn't previously had diabetes, has an increased high blood glucose levels. Babies born to mothers with gestational diabetes have a high birth weight, low blood sugar and jaundice-- and often have a higher rate of juvenile obesity. If you test positive for gestational diabetes, you doctor will help you modify your diet.
