Blood bonds, Naming Ceremonies, etc....

My SO comes from a long history of witches and wizards. His Gram was a High Priestess and she personally took him under her wing in apprenticeship at a young age (before he was OF age). I never met her in life, as this January she will have passed 2 yrs ago.

Shortly after Gram passed, my SO had a stroke and since has struggled to remember all he was taught, though it comes back in pieces. While he was in the hospital, Gram came to me to test my heart (we were not yet together, but wanted to be and knew we would be someday). After talking with SO, we found that while recovering in the hospital, he actually died for a short time, and at the same time I was having an emotional break down, afraid I had lost him and would never have the opportunity to be with him. As Gram approached, she was apprehensive, but when she saw my heart, there was a peace in the air and she comforted me. She still lingers and comes to us from time to time, but there is only so much she will impart, he has to remember for himself.

Okay, now for the heart of why I am posting this question:

Since SO is still struggling to remember everything, we need a little assistance as my due date approaches. I want to honor his family traditions as I hope to someday be fully a part of those traditions. Gram did his BOS bonding on the day he was born. I know we will not be able to pull this off with our baby, but as soon as we can, we would like to do the same. Being as his memory is still SLOWLY returning, I am asking if anyone knows of a ceremony or a good resource to accomplish this for our little one.

Our reasoning: Throughout this pregnancy, our baby has been talking to me, chosen his/her path of magick, and constantly exhibits a strong ability that shocks even my SO. Baby can pull and draw his energy when he touches my abdomen. Baby, again, talks to me and to him through me. Gram has come to soothe Baby and help ease his/her fears of the powers growing within. It has been a new adventure for me.

Next: We would like to perform a naming ceremony, another family tradition. Again, this is something he doesn't remember how to do, nor if he had ever been taught.

If anyone would be kind enough to assist in this or at least to point us in the right direction, we would greatly appreciate it!

Blessed Be!

NOTE: I am VERY new to all of this having come from a Christian background/upbringing. I have spent the better part of the past 10 years reading, researching and readying myself to be prepared to fully commit to the life that is my SO's. I haven't fully made that commitment, because I never had someone to guide me or to practice with until now. This is NOT a life I will choose lightly, there is too much power that can lead astray and/or overwhelm and I would never want to try to harness it nor use it without proper training or guidance. We are looking for a circle in our area, but we are quite new to the area and all the ones we have found are far enough away, we cannot commit to them.

Thank you for all your help and support! Again, Blessed Be!!

In native american tradition, (i mix it with wicca) As soon as baby is here Dad goes outside and the first thing he sees or hears will be the name. My close native american friend name his daughter Birdsong (middle name) they had already chosen her first name. If you are telepathic with the child in utero, ask it what its name should be or a form of what it likes. (sorry about calling "it" couldn't remember if you said boy or girl)You are doing the right thing with taking your time. Very good judgment ;-)) Good Luck and Blessed Be

We have both boy and girl names picked out because baby will not let us see and all the old wives' tales contradict themselves, even my midwives are baffled! Heartrate is everywhere from 120s-170s, baby is constantly changing positions and how it lays, the ring thing... it goes up and down, not in a circle or sideways. We ask and all we get is laughed at or a good luck. Even Gram ain't tellin'. One thing I didn't mention in my original post is that my baby has chosen it's path of magick. That was an amazing dream/vision, Gram confirmed it and gave her translation of what all meant. We chose our girl name in relation to that vision. The boy name? Well, me and SO have always loved one particular name and so that was a no-brainer. Boy name is Dominick Hawkin. We are keeping the girl name under wraps, just something we wanted to keep to ourselves, but baby seems to say that it's okay... if a girl, GAH!!!!
