Homeschooling in TN. (piog)

We are moving to TN soon. I've been homeschooling over seas and haven't had to worry about regulations on homeschooling. I'm curious for those who homeschool in TN which option did you choose? I'm really looking to choose the option that allows me to still pick the curriculum for my daughter. I've heard of umbrella schools. With those do you need to do their curriculum or can you do your own?
Thanks!

Sorry I'm in CT and we don't have to seek approval or anything. I think it depends on the umbrella school - I think some allow you to submit your own curriculum for approval, but I'm not 100% certain. I'd suggest emailing the umbrella school to see.

I lived in TN for five years and have to say I loved it there. We chose to utilize the umbrella school because I found it to be less evasive and the best option for our family. You chose your own curriculum it actually pretty much a joke if you ask me. The only thing I really used it for was to do things legally and to keep track of how many days the boys did school. We usded Home Life Academy and were happy with it, there was never any problems.

Thanks! I have heard of home life academy. Are you really happy with HLA?

We live in Tennessee, and use HLA, as well. They are very helpful, and will answer emails quickly. My daughter is a freshman, so I've had quite a lot of transcript questions, and the staff is always ready to help. I just have to submit grades twice a year, as well as yearly attendance. They will evaluate classes, and develop transcripts.

Sounds good. I've heard good stuff about HLA. I need to register my soon to be 5 yr. old for next fall. I've also heard of Heritage Covenant and Family Life.

I live in Bedford Co. TN...almost in Moore Co., actually. Two friends of mine use Riverside Christian in Fayetteville. They like it.
