About Cooking 101

Welcome to Cooking 101! This group is devoted to everything and anything about cooking! Recipes, menu ideas, cooking with kids, holiday ideas and questions about food, whether you're new to cooking or have lots of experience. No spam. No advertising-or promoting anything, no links, and that includes in your signature, which needs to be small and discreet, not blaring, not bill-board sized. That way, we aren't cluttered up and our space can be dedicated to lots of recipes and questions!

If you haven’t already done so, please read any announcements at the beginning of the posts, on the first page highlighted in yellow and green. This will give you information that will make your experience here better. There’s a post "Introduce yourself here" where you can tell us about yourself, if you’d like.  Check out the Cookbook, it has the previous posts from out members. On the left of the screen, there’s a list to help you navigate the site. One neat feature is Search Posts. If you click on Search Posts, a window comes up where you can type in anything you’re looking for, like Pork Chops or Hamburger and previous posts will come up. There are lots of recipes there that have been posted before. And when posting on the forum, don’t put teasers like "Need a recipe" or "Hi" (lots of our members ignore these). Be more specific and say, "Need a recipe for Pork Tenderloin" or, "How do you make gravy?" or "My favorite Chocolate Cake recipe". You’ll get better response this way. I'd rather you do it this way, instead of me having to re-post it. Please use the spell check button when you write a post. It only takes a second, and really is helpful, and might save you some embarrassment. If you use the new script font, please increase the size, otherwise, it may not be able to be read on many computers. If you try a recipe, please post a reply and let others know that you liked it or message the person that posted it.  If you post a recipe that you’ve seen online, but haven’t tried it, please state that. Otherwise, we will think that it’s a recipe that you’ve tried and had success with. This is important because there are so many recipes online that have not been tested. We don’t want to mislead anyone. If you have tried the recipe, please feel free to post it, (not a link to it) along with your comments. Please post any cooking related questions you have. . Please post any favorite recipes you have that you’d like to share, or ask for a recipe you've been wanting to try. This group is for cooking, recipes, menus and food related topics only. No advertising or promoting other groups or products, blogs, websites, charities or any other type of promotion, including any pet project, belief or point of view  no links of any kind,  on the main forum of posts, to a favorite site -including in your signature. Message me if you're not sure or if you want a link added to our group links-on the left side of this page. There is a special post specifically for Advertising your business or promoting your group or product at the top of the forum page, where you may post this information. Signatures which include your family  are permitted, as long as they are discreet and not billboard size, not blinking or more than one line-otherwise it takes up too much space-absolutely no advertising or logos in your signature.  Please don't re-print an e-mail someone sent you-including those about a recall or the latest scary happening. No contests. No asking for donations, or votes or parenting advice. There are lots of other groups that address these issues. This group is very specific-only cooking or food-related posts please. All others that do not follow these guidelines will be deleted, or re-posted with corrections made.  If you see any posts that you feel are not following our guidelines, please use the Report Post button at the bottom of the post. Just click on there and type in a brief message and I, or one of the administrators will check it out. Please be respectful of each other. The guidelines may change over time as different situations come up, so please check back. Sorry this is so long, but I’m trying to prevent any misunderstanding. I hope this information helps you enjoy this group. If you have any questions about the group or about cooking in general, please feel free to message me. I love to cook, and to share what I’ve learned and I love to swap recipes, I hope you do too.
