I'm familiar with the company you are both partnered with but thought that you should be aware that you are giving your potential customers/partners inaccuraqte info- rather ironic considering your comment about getting the facts.

You have to choose the products that are right for your family, and these might be it, but you should make that choice as an informed decision on all sides as well as providing accurate info (or at least not inaccurate info) to your potential customers and partners. here's some more info on melaleuca and a breakdown of a few of their products to help you and others choose having been informed.

None of the melaleuca cleaning products list ingredients and the refuse to do a third party certification. As for the products of theirs that list ingredients- here's a breakdown of a few and you can see that they aren't green in the ingredients and have toxins you find in normal conventional products.

Renew Lotion

Ingredients:
Deionized water, Glycerin USP, petrolatum USP, distearyldimonium chloride, isopropyl palmitate, cetyl alcohol, dimethicone, allantoin, T36-C5® brand Melaleuca Oil, methylparaben, propylparaben, fragrance.

these ingredients include, clearly listed, parabens methylparaben & propylparaben. (parabens and strongly suspected of being carcinagenic since they are found in tumors after leaking into the skin from use in products, they are also endocrine disruptors, system toxins, developemental/reproductive toxins, irritants and ecotoxins)

distearyldimonium chloride is an irritant and sytem toxin, neurotoxin and ecotoxin

It also lists dimethicone which is non-biodegradable Silicone derived emollient (kinda hard for a product to be green when it has non-biodergradable ingredients, so this is definitly not green by anyones standards)

Also petrolium based, not green there. petrolatum USP is often contaminated with PAHS. PAHS is a carcinagen, allergen, neurotoxin, endocrine disruptor, ecotoxin, system toxin, developemental and reproductive toxin, skin toxin.

isopropyl palmitate is an irritant and system toxin.

Then we have the dreaded fragrance- Fragrance on a label can indicate the presence of up to four thousand separate ingredients, many toxic or carcinogenic.

I must also note that this is in one of the products that have ingredients available for view, to me that says that the ingredients in this product are probably safer then in the products that don't list ingredients

Here's a product from their kid/baby line.

KOALA PALS BODY WASH

Ingredients: water, peg-80 sorbitan laurate, cocamidopropyl betaine, sodium trideceth sulfate, disodium coamphodiacetate, oatamidoproprl betaine, aloe barbadensis extract, tocopheryl acetate usp, butylene glycol, chamomile extract, green tea extract, citric acid, peg-150 distearate, tetrasodium edta, polyquaternium-10, sodium hydroxymethylglycinate, fragrance

peg-80 sorbitan laurate: this is an irritant and toxin. As a toxin there is evidence of organ toxicity, reproductive/developemental toxin, This ingredients also often is contaminated with 1,4-Dioxane (carcinagen, neurotoxin, organ toxin, developemental toxin, irritant and more) Further this is an endocrine disrupter.

Endocrine disrupters interfere with the functioning of the endocrine system, in at least three possible ways:

  • by mimicking the action of a naturally-produced hormone, such as oestrogen or testosterone, and thereby setting off similar chemical reactions in the body;
  • by blocking the receptors in cells receiving the hormones (hormone receptors), thereby preventing the action of normal hormones; or
  • by affecting the synthesis, transport, metabolism and excretion of hormones, thus altering the concentrations of natural hormones.

cocamidopropyl betaine: allergen toxin, nitrosamine-carcinagen, can be contaminated with amidoamine (strong human irritant) can contain traces of sodium monochloroacetate (toxin)

peg-150 distearate: This ingredient is a toxin of it's own right and is also often contaminated with 1,4-Dioxane (carcinagen, neurotoxin, organ toxin, developemental toxin, irritant and more) This ingredient really bothers me to be in a wellness product for children as well, as it is not safe for damaged skin, so any child with any skin condition or any sort of cut, scrape ect... should not use this product, with children this is more often then not.

tocopheryl acetate usp: Allergen and system toxin, often contaminated with Hydroquinone (carcinagen, allergen, neurotoxin, endocrine disruptor, ecotoxin, system toxin, developemental and reproductive toxin, skin toxin)

sodium hydroxymethylglycinate: this one takes the cake for me, if you have ever heard a speal from a melaleuca rep either in forums or irl you have probably heard them talk about how horrible formaldehyde is. This ingredient is usually contaminated with formaldehyde.

disodium coamphodiacetate:  irritant & sytem toxin

tetrasodium edta: irritant & sytem toxin

butylene glycol:  Neurotoxin, endocrine disruptor, system toxin, reproductive/developmental toxin, irritant.

MELALEUCA FRESH MINT TOOTH POLISH: Aqua(water/eau); Hydrated Silica; Glycerin; Sorbitol; Dicalcium Phosphate; Xanthan Gum; Melaleuca Alternifolia(Tea Tree) Leaf Oil; Aroma; Poloxamer 407; Xylitol; Diglycerin; Propolis Extract; Commiphora Myrrha Oil; Sodium Alkyl Sulfate; Chlorophyllin-Copper Complex; Potassium Acesulfame; Sodium Benzoate

Chlorophyllin-Copper Complex: carncinagen, toxin, bioaccumulative

Commiphora Myrrha Oil: system toxin

Sodium Benzoate: carcinagen, neurotoxin, system toxin, endocrine disruptor, developement toxin, irritant

Hydrated Silica: carcinagen, bioaccumulative

Poloxamer 407: system toxin, neurotoxin

Sorbitol: carcinagen, system toxin

Xylitol: neurotoxin, system toxin

and although they do have some green practices as a company like selling in concetration the toxins and ethics are far removed from the wellness scene as most consumers would view it. they even test on animals and actually directly lie to their consumers about it to the extent that peta has released a statement about just that.

http://www.askcarla.com/answers.asp?QuestionandanswerID=547

Why is Melaleuca included on the "do test" list?

We removed Melaleuca from our list of companies that do not test on animals after learning that it commissioned two animal tests that were not required by law.

In 1996, during the course of litigation with a competing company, Melaleuca commissioned a lethal-dose test on the competitor's product. The test resulted in the agonizing deaths of 10 rats. In 1997, we learned that Melaleuca had commissioned experiments on dogs for its nutritional product Provex CV.

It seems that every consumer we speak to has heard a different story from Melaleuca about its removal from our "don't test" list. One common accusation is that we removed the company from the list for washing its employees' companion animals with dog shampoo. This is not accurate. Using animals in laboratory settings to test products for safety and trying out a product that has already been proved safe through non-animal testing methods on one's companion animal are two entirely different situations. We would not take issue with the latter scenario, which does not involve harming animals.

It is important to note that Melaleuca used animals for tests while it was included on PETA's cruelty-free list-after signing our statement of assurance, which indicates that the company will never test on animals, in 1993. Obviously, Melaleuca is willing to make exceptions to its "no animal testing" policy whenever it deems it necessary.

A March 2003 Melaleuca statement titled "Our Position: Firm but Not Extreme" says, "Melaleuca has long taken the position that we will not test our personal care or household products on animals. We feel that is the proper position to take, and you will find us adhering to this policy without hesitation. We feel, however, that there are extremes to every argument. We do not adhere to the extremes. ... Nor do we take the position that all scientific use of animals needs to be stopped."

In a March 2003 letter, Melaleuca freeely admits that it commissioned laboratory tests in which rats and dogs were used, stating, "The rats died a horrible death. ... Prior to performing human studies to prove Provex CV's effectiveness, Melaleuca commissioned that the product be tested on dogs first. ... In our quest to save life, we refuse to tell PETA that we will never again test our cardiovascular products on animals."

yes, ahealthcafe and livetotalwellness are both melaleuca team websites. they don't list the company they are partnered with on the site on purpose so you don't have a chance to look it up and have any knowledge of it before you talk to them.

First of all, live total wellness is not apart of Melaleuca, secondly, u gave no citations of where you found your information in regards to some of the ingredients in the products....I just got off the phone with one on my chemist and was told that u are in fact wrong about some of your allegations....USP do you know what it stands for? In life we have things from nature that are not good for us because there is good and bad in everything...that's why you have to follow guidelines....Melaleuca is the Best of Nature and Science....All of the products have no known Toxins, no cancer causing agents, is not a carcinogen or that other stuff that you claim....You talk about we don't display what company we work with so you can't get info, but that's not true, in fact if Melalueca was so bad then HEALTH CAFÉ would not have teamed up with us to help create awareness....Yes everyone has to choose what is right for their family and finding out the facts is first.... I know first hand about nature because I am from the West indies, and back then things of nature was all you had to rely on...

that's because the info I gave is general health knowedge. it's all public released and known about these ingredeints. all you have to do is look any of them up on reputable site and you find the same info. start with http://www.cosmeticdatabase.com/ which is ran by ewg. as you can see the products do have known toxins and carcinagens. very known. nor does the company claim they don't, so you are making claims outside of what the company condones. I'm sorry, but you can't say that ewg, which is the biggest and most reputable organizations behind consumer health awarebess and information in cosmetic ingredients and products is wrong on all these ingredients. They help decide the standard for this stuff, they have their information down pat.
