  • How many kids do you have? 2

what are their ages? Almost 12 and 3 1/2

    boys or girls?One of each

do any of them play sports? My oldest (my son) plays football and is one year away from testing for his Black Belt in self-defence

musical instruments? Guitar and voice (boy, let me tell you the voice change thing is not making that easy for him)

Do you watch what tyhey eat? explain; Yes, I try to make sure they get the 3 servings of dairy and 5 servings of fruits/vegs.  I also don't let them pig out on junk food

Do you monitor their tv? in what way exactly?  My daughter pretty much only watches PBS, Nick Jr. or other "G" rated material.  I was very strict w/ my son when he was little too.  Now he has quite a bit more freedom but Mom or Dad have to okay anything that is PG-13 (some of that is fine and some borders on R so we are cautious about it)

Do they ever go and spend the night with friends? My son does, my daughter has only overnighted at Grandparents thus far.

do their friends stay at your house? Yep

do you celebrate Easter?how?  Yes, we got to services on Maundy Thursday and Good Friday in preparation for Easter service on Sunday.  We typically have breakfast at our church and then have a nice meal sometime later that day.  This year we may be going out after church but I'm not sure yet.  My parents are coming up this year also, which is out of the ordinary.

do you celebrate Christmas? Yes, our celebration is mostly focused on the Birth of Jesus but we also "do" Santa.

What form of punishment do you use the most?  Um, I use a combination of many things: timeouts, loss of privileges, spanking, depends on what the offense was, who did it and why.  I discipline my older child very differently than the younger because of there is a big difference in how an 11 year old thinks and acts versus a 3 year old.

What other types do you use?  See above

What is the one thing you do,that you wish you didn't?  Lose my temper so easily

what would you want your children to grow up to be? My son: a pastor, though I doubt it will happen.  My daughter: I don't know yet.  In an ideal world she would marry young and well and be able to be a Stay at home wife/mother.

do they have chores? Sort of, we aren't as consistent with that as I would like to be.

do they get allowance?  My son does

do they go to public school or private? or do yoiu homeschool?  My son goes to a public charter school.  In many ways it is like a private school: uniforms, character education, rigorous academics. small class size.

What gifts do you see in them? They are both very inquisitive and love learning.  My son has a love of reading.  He also enjoys little kids and helping out the "grandmas and grandpas" at our church.  My daughter is a talker and is very determined/stubborn.  It is a blessing and a curse (she is WAY too much like her mother lol).

What special thing do you guys do together? or share?  My son plays D&D with us and some other adults.  We watch TV, play board/card games (Chutes&Ladders and UNO are big right now).  We also LOVE going to used bookstores.  That is a high point for us.  I wish we did more outdoor things together but my hubby really isn't an outdoorsy kind of guy.

what are their ages? 3, 30 weeks

boys or girls? girls, (we think)

do any of them play sports? not yet

    musical instruments? not yet

Do you watch what tyhey eat? explain; Yes. At first our daughter was allergic to nearly everything. She's grown out of it now. We kind of do everything in moderation but she is learning early on to like whole grains and fresh veggies / fruit. She drinks very little juice and it is always 100%. No soda and only candy on special occasions

Do you monitor their tv? in what way exactly? I try to, but dh has very different views. When he isn't home I limit the shows she watches as well as her TV time

Do they ever go and spend the night with friends? My parents, and recently her cousins

do their friends stay at your house? So far we haven't done sleep overs. Play dates only

do you celebrate Easter?how? We have a big BBQ & egg hunt

do you celebrate Christmas? We do eve with dh's family and Christmas day with my family. I do crafts and baking throught the season with dd. We put up a tree and decorate. She usually does a Christmas skit with Kids Church.

What form of punishment do you use the most? It depends. blatant disobedience always receives a spanking. Sometimes we take away priveleges or toys. Every once in a while she needs some thinking time as well.

What other types do you use?

What is the one thing you do,that you wish you didn't? Loose my patience

what would you want your children to grow up to be? Anything but an exotic dancer?

do they have chores? She picks up her toys. She has also always enjoyed helping me with the dishes.

do they get allowance? We just started a clean room chart where she is working her way towards a toy, book, or hour at jumparama

do they go to public school or private? or do yoiu homeschool? She'll probably go to public school

What gifts do you see in them? She has musical talent, she is very outgoing and compassionate

  • Quoting MOMMYOFMANY67:

How many kids do you have? 3

what are their ages? 3yrs, 21 months, & 3 months

boys or girls? boy, boy, girl

do any of them play sports? not old enough yet, but next year I hope to start my oldest son in soccer!

musical instruments? not old enough yet, but I would like them each to try an instrument...maybe start them out on piano lessons until they're old enough to choose something they really like (my brother, father and I all played the Trumpet)

Do you watch what tyhey eat? explain; I've started to watch more carefully. Each meal I try to make sure they get a good source of protein, calcium, lots of veggies and fruit and make more of their snacks fruit or veggies instead of crackers or pretzels. I also have cut out kool-aid completely and let them drink only water, milk or decaf iced tea (that I brew myself and only used a little bit of sugar in). (My oldest son has a severe nut allergy so I monitor EVERYTHING closely for that purpose)

Do you monitor their tv? in what way exactly? I do...mostly they are only allowed to watch things that are G & PG. They watch cartoons on PBS (which even those I watch myself from time to time to make sure they're not sending any mixed messages) and they have a lot of preapproved movies they can watch. I've been trying to reduce the amount of time they watch TV all together though.

Do they ever go and spend the night with friends? No. They are too young. I don't know how I feel about this. I do not think I will allow them to do this even when they're older unless it's someone from church or we know the parents well. If it's just a random friend from school I don't think I will allow it.

do their friends stay at your house? I don't think I would mind having their friends over at our house when they're older.

do you celebrate Easter?how? Yes. We do  not believe in the "easter bunny" though. I want Easter to focus solely on Jesus. They do receive easter baskets of candy but they know upfront that Mommy and Daddy got them for them.

do you celebrate Christmas? Yes. We do not believe in Santa though. We want our central focus to be on Jesus and His birth and our kids will know from the start that Santa does not exist.

What form of punishment do you use the most? Probably Time Out or taking toys away from them if they're fighting over it.

What other types do you use?We do believe in spanking but only use that for more severe discipline (like hurting a sibling...etc...we have only used the paddle on my oldest...I used my hand and just swat my youngest son's bum or smack his hand....)

What is the one thing you do,that you wish you didn't? Probably just yell sometimes when I'm in an irritable mood (after or during a migraine sometimes I can get pretty grumpy with the kids and I should have a bit more patience).

what would you want your children to grow up to be? Anything God leads and guides them to be.

do they have chores? Not yet...other then just helping clean up their toys.

do they get allowance? Not yet.

do they go to public school or private? or do yoiu homeschool? They're not in school yet. I would like them to go to a private Christian school at some point though.

What gifts do you see in them? It's hard to tell at this age.

What special thing do you guys do together? or share? Arts & Crafts, Going to the park, Storytime, Prayertime, Calendar Time

  • How many kids do you have? 3 so far

    what are their ages? 3, 2, & 5 months

boys or girls? Much to my husband's dismay - all girls

do any of them play sports? Ballet, soccer, t-ball

    musical instruments? piano

Do you watch what tyhey eat? Yes explain; We eat atleast 75% organic and 100% natural (no dyes, preservatives, etc.).  I limit portion sizes and the amount from any given food group (such as 2 servings of protein per day)

Do you monitor their tv? Yes in what way exactly? I only allow preschool cartoons (non-violent with a simple story line) and usually only in the morning

Do they ever go and spend the night with friends? No (too young IMO)

do their friends stay at your house? No (again - too young)

do you celebrate Easter? Yes how? With lots of Church and Bible study on the reasons behind it.  We have a feast with our extended family and we do hide & color Easter eggs

    do you celebrate Christmas? Yes

What form of punishment do you use the most? Standing in the corner

What other types do you use? Spankings, going to bed early

What is the one thing you do,that you wish you didn't? bite my nails bc now my girls do it!

what would you want your children to grow up to be? Happy Christians

    do they have chores? Yes

do they get allowance? Not yet but they might in the future

do they go to public school or private? or do yoiu homeschool? Homeschool

What gifts do you see in them? My 5 month old is such a sweet thing.  She has a seizure disorder and has to constantly undergo testing, needles, and of course seizures.  She never even fusses about any of it.  My 2 year old is very loving, always quick with a hug or a song to cheer someone up.  My 3 year old is extremely smart, already reading and doing division.

What special thing do you guys do together? or share?  We love to read the children's Bible together, go for walks, and bake.

  • How many kids do you have? 1.5

what are their ages? 3, 37wks

    boys or girls? girls

do any of them play sports? Olivia just started hip hop dance, and Bailey does womb acrobats

    musical instruments?

Do you watch what they eat? explain; She can have one treat only if she has eaten well up to that point in the day. She drinks mostly water, some milk, very limited and only 100% juice, no soda. Meals need to include protien, whole grain, & frt/veg. Helping her eat healthy helps me too.

Do you monitor their tv? in what way exactly? When daddy isn't home she gets no more than 2 hours/day, only disney channel or noggin. When dadd has the run of things, TV is on all the time.

Do they ever go and spend the night with friends? She has stayed the night at Grandma & Grandpas plenty of times and at Auntie & Uncle's once

do their friends stay at your house? Not over night yet

do you celebrate Easter?how? We have a HUGE bbq at our house with family and friends and an egg hunt for the kids

do you celebrate Christmas? Yes, yes, yes....We do baking, crafts, caroling, the trucker's parade and light viewing night. We have eve with Hubby's fam, and Day at our house with mine. We do some kind of meal, Christmas Story, and gift exchange

What form of punishment do you use the most? I use discipline. When she disobeyes by not doing what she's told or by doing something she's been told not to do, I talk her through it- "my job is to (protect you, help you learn..., take care of you,...) What is your job? (She should say "Obey") You did not obey mommy when you.... What is my job to do when you don't obey? (She says "spank") Then I remind her once more why I am going to spank her and tell her how many she will get. It seems tedious and time consuming and when we first started it was, but now mostly she just needs to be reminded to obey, some days she needs a apanking. Time outs never worked for us.

What other types do you use? Sometimes I take away privledges or toys. We also use reward systems.

What is the one thing you do,that you wish you didn't? Raise my voice

what would you want your children to grow up to be? Happy, healthy, Godly women

do they have chores? Not exactly yet, but she loves to help with everything. She picks up her own toys most of the time.

do they get allowance? Right now she has a sticker chart. When she picks up her toys at the end of the day she gets a sticker. WHen it is full she earns a book, toy, or jump time at the mall

do they go to public school or private? or do yoiu homeschool? We plan on sending her to public

What gifts do you see in them? She is very charismatic and friendly-love people, she is musically inclined, she is a great helper wherever she goes

What special thing do you guys do together? or share? We love to do puzzles, we like to cook together
