• We had been thinking of going back home for the 4th but decided not to due to issues going on here.  So we are going to the pretty much the same thing we have done in years past and go to the fireworks in a suburb close-by.  They have a nice little celebration with a "small-town" feel.  Although I know my husband would rather go to the concerts that are playing downtown on Friday but I don't really want to be in big crowds right now and I hope that he understands that.  We were also hoping that it would warm up here enough to go to the beach on Friday but I don't know if that is going to happen.  If not, we'll just wing it.

• It'll be just another day of the week here. I had hoped one of the towns closest to us, was going to have a 4th of July celebration (a few years ago, they had a bbq cook off, water slides and rides for the kids, craft booths, music and a firework display later...we had such a good time), but they are apparently skipping that this year. We usually don't make a big deal of holidays, as my husband thinks it's always a waste of money. I used to love holidays, but have learned to put a lid on my enthusiasm.

• My husband LOVES the fourth of July, he used to work for a pyrotechnics comapny and is obsessed with fireworks. This year is going to be kind of special because the kids are going to his mom's for the big family thing, and he and I are going to a big festival downtown (with an awesome concert!). I am so excited.
