  • How do you SAHM moms get your house/world organized to do freelance work? I need the structure of a work environment, and I have two young boys that "get into" my stuff...and I can't do any work around them because I can't focus on either - work or them - then.
  • There's also a part of me that thinks working on a laptop might be better -- portable, no sharing computer with hubby or kids...but I can't justify buying one if I am not producing work...
  • Aside from gearing your work toward a particular audience, publication, how do you drum up freelance work?
  • The creative part of me is also looking for a paid outlet, and I know, or assume, that's harder. Any pointers?

Looking forward to getting to know you guys!!!!

hey, I have 2 boys, 3yrs and 2 yrs and working from home is hard. My hubby goes to work at 3:00 am so I stay up then, when I can get most of my work done before the kids wake up. I have my office set up in my room on a lap top. Nap time is great for work time too. I average atleast 3 articles a day which brings me a nice income a month. my hubby watches the kids for 2 hours after he gets home so I can work. Thats my process.

Hi & Welcome to our little group!

I am a WAHM of 3 (9, 7, & 3) and I can vouch that it is truly a struggle ballancing it all. I added even more to my plate this past year when I chose to use virtual homeschooling for oldest two children instead of putting them in public school this year. My best advice is to find something that works for you & your children. Organization is truly in the eye of the beholder in that one persons idea of it could mean everything completely spotless, neatly labeled etc. (I envy those homes lol) for my home I never have everything off my floor and counters I'm forever picking up after my youngsters & hubby too, but I did incorporate some boundaries with them that work for us.

Since I'm a full time online college student, momma, freelance writer to several different companies, and wife to a soldier who like to deploy every other year lol my plate is always full but I truly try to make the most of every moment. I like to think life is about picking & choosing your battles - example: I could spend every waking moment chasing after my children & hollering at them to pick up, clean up, and more but instead I keep a clean home if not clutter free.

I'd get the laptop! You can find a decent one now days for around $500 & it truly helped me get motivated and because I can grab it and sit on the sofa while my toddler plays at my feet & my oldest two do homework at the table it works for me! If I had to wait to shut myself up in my office I wouldn't accomplish most of what I need to everyday.

Hope some of this has helped (I know I run on & on) but know you're not alone!
