Do you guys get the summer off? My program is 5 semesters, we're doing mother/baby and peds this summer. Financial aid won't cover the summer semester either, I'm already nervous about how I'm going to pay for it all!

For nursing students, no, they go straigh through. I won't be taking this summer off (I'm still taking my pre-req's). If I do, I'll never get done in time to apply to the program next year.

Yes I get summers off. Why wont fin aid pay for summer classes?  The pell grant does...  (I know cause I get the pell grant).  I'm in a full time nursing program that runs 4 semesters.

It's really frustrating and a long story. Basically the financial aid office went through 2 supervisors in 2 months. They moved an operator into the office for temp help. Well when the supervisor up and quit, they just moved her into the supervisor position. She has NO idea what she's doing. I had 3 different disbursement checks last semester (only suppose to get one). She has told the school that no colleges were doing summer aid because of the govt. and budget cuts. We (the nursing program) are up in arms and trying to get this issue fixed. It may have already been fixed, but when our break started we were still being told no financial aid at all for summer.

My school has two programs.  One is the accelerated and it goes all year around.  The other is the traditional and you get summers off.  I want to do the accelerated but I would have to get daycare for the summer :(.

It's hard but my mom has summers off from her work, so my older two are going to stay with her most of the week and come home on the weekends. Thank god it's only 6 weeks! There's only one program, and no choice to put off any semesters.

I have four kids too, I'm freaking out a little. I know it's several months away but I'm worried how it's going to work. Thankfully it's only 6 weeks!

that is awesome.  My mother in law was going to be able to help while i took a few morning classes but her father is now on hospice so she can't.  She feels so bad. I told her there would be plenty of time to spend with her grandkids but she needs to be there for her dad.

I start this summer.  Our program is special in the sense that the school is able to get financial aid to cover.  I am still waiting to see how much student loans I am going to get from federal so I can see if I need to go private loans for this semester. I have spent SO much money getting everything paid for I do not have enough clearance to put it on credit card.  My program does not have subsidized tuition like the rest of the university, so I am paying about 3 times more than I would regularly per unit.  Summer semester alone is $5787 just for tuition.  I have spent $2k+ of my own money getting all the stuff I need (uniforms, shoes, tote, etc).  I am ordering my books this week.
