I have been working on making my way towards a nursing degree. This fall I will finish up my gen ed with adv. A&P and med term. I will also be taking the HESI entrance exam in Oct. hoping for a spring start. My advisor has encouraged me to only do the nursing program 1/2 time since I have 4 little ones and no family help with my hubby working 70 hours a week. The core program is 2 years long and if I do it half time it would take 4 LOOOOONG years. Idk what to do? Anyone in a situation similar to mine have advice?

Well, honestly if you want it bad enough you figure out a way to make it work. Even with your DH being busy with work, you can make it work. The best thing that I can tell you would be to get a support system. What worked best for me was hiring a nanny who worked when I was at school, and was willing to work a few extra hours here and there so that I could get other things taken care of.

Sadly we don't have the extra money to afford that. I am thinking of doing half time till one more of my kiddos goes fulltime (next school year) then I will only have my 2 year old at home. I think I want to talk to my advisor some more. I hear about how new RNs are having a hard time job wise so that is another concern. I want to make sure I can get a job and am not working my butt off for nothing.
