Last Friday (14th of October) I had gotten the Mirena (IUD) put in, 9 weeks post partum. During the insertation, I experienced a lot of cramping. It felt like child birth all over again, very painful!! I ended up fainting, turning completely pale and also throwing up. I was told it was "normal" and everything should be fine. I had cramping throughout the weekend and spotting. Tuesday I quit spotting but was still cramping. Come Friday (one week later), early morning, five am! I woke up to feed my daughter.. I got up, urinated and noticed I was starting to bleed again. Five minutes later I was hunched over bawling my eyes out. I was have HORRIBLE sharp pains in my lower abdomine. I hadn't felt that type of pain since contractions with labor. I tried taking Ibuprofin, didn't help. Thirty minutes into this cramping spell I popped a Hydrocodone (left over prescription from delivery). I don't take narcotics unless I'm in a major deal of pain. The pains quit 45mins later. I then called my doctor a little later that day and was told to go to the ER. I spent 6 hours in the emergency room to be told they couldn't find the IUD in place, and couldn't detect it on an ultrasound. After an X-ray, they found it and told me I need to have it surgically removed. Awesome. Not. After researching all these Mirena misplacements in other women, I wish I would have never gotten this thing put in me. I'm now afraid I won't be able to have any more children and I'm really beating myself up for not doing more research. This really sucks! :(
I'm still having horrible stomach pains and have to wait the whole weekend plus Monday to get it removed Tuesday. I don't understand why the doctors are going to keep this forigen object floating around in my body. Couldn't it puncture a vital organ and BAM fatal! My dad wants to sue, but they did make me sign a liablity form before getting it inserted. Ugh!!!
