I hate it how woman use bc as an excuse for gaining weight losing it or being moody....
THE IUD does not cause weight gain.... i have had it for over a year and lLOVE IT!!!
SO Women dont be scared to get it. Listen to your dr and they will say u dont gain weight....
I'm sorry, but I have to disagree with you. After my pregnancy I lost most of my pregnancy weight, then got the IUD in. I honestly didn't think anything of it, never heard or read complaints, but I had quickly gained most of my weight back. I am just over 2wks past getting my mirena removed, and I've already lost 8-10lbs, and I'm fitting into pants that didn't fit into a month ago. I had some other problems w/ the mirena iud, but I seem to be sensitive to hormones. They wouldn't have so many different birth control options if women didn't need choices. What may work for 1 person, may not work for another.
On a different note, when I am asked about the Mirena IUD, I share my experience, but strongly encourage the women to at least give it a try. If your body can handle it then it's a great method of birth control, so easy, and effective. I don't share my story to scare women out of getting it, just to inform them, so if they see theirselves w/ lack of energy, unexplained weight gain, terrible migraines, ect, they will not overlook the iud.
Sorry to disagree with you,but I have done a lot of research on Mirena and its side effects.
Mirena DOES cause weight gain,it even says so on the mirena site (Bayer) its one of the most common side effects.
Read the hundreds of letters on my site from women with side effects caused by mirena,(below) sometimes it takes a few years to get any side effects like me and hundreds of other women,so keep your eyes open if you have any medical problems in the future.
