I am new here. I am a mother of two and have been married for twelve years. My husband and I are done with having kids. I have been on birth control and off since I was a young teen, primarily due to very painful periods which I started at the age of 9.  I tried the pills, the depo-shot and now the Mirena. I really thought this would be the one. I was hoping I wouldn't have to worry about getting pregnant and having painful periods or no period at all while using this IUD. I guess 1 out of 3 isn't so bad. I don't worry about getting pregnant but I still have periods and pain.  I was hoping to be one of those canidates that start off having light periods which in time will stop altogether, but that has not happen so far. I've been on the Mirena for about a year and 4 months now. I get a period for about 3 weeks every month. it starts off light and is heavy for two weeks. I have pain and cramping during those times and after intercourse, and sometimes even spot a little afterwards.  I have pain in my lower abdomen on the left and right side after intercourse. I want to say it feels like something is jabbing me, but I'm not sure. Kind of hard to explain. I've been taking alieve for the pain.Sometimes I experience lower back pain and thigh pain as well. I am trying to hang in there and give Mirena a chance, but I think after a year and 4 months, my body should be well adjusted to it by now. When I went in for my annual pelvic exam, everything seemed fine and my strings were visible and were they should be so I just thought it will get better over time and that what i was feeling was natural. After reading these other post, now I'm not so sure. I wonder if my OBGYN could do an ultrasound or something to make sure the Mirena is where it should be or if I have any cyst or anyhting that might be contributing to the pain I've been feeling. If the pain persist, I might consider having it removed. Either way I will still be in pain. I don't want to have a period any more which is one of the reasons why I wanted to give Mirena a try, but I still have them and they are longer. What should I do?

Please take it out.  I have had thigh pain that is bad enough I am scared I will fall over.  I have tingling in my limbs, I have had an increase in migraines, basically my whole body fell apart within 3 weeks of getting mirena bu tit took me 3 months to convince myself that this was the cause o everything... they even tested me for ms. I found another message board (curezone) that saved me with all the women sharing their stories.  Please, please get it out.
