Has anyone used this program? My doctor as well as one other child development specialist has said that my two year old is behind on her speech. I wanted to give her another year to see if she starts saying the two word phrases and verbalizing her requests. They said the program is only for children under three. I've just heard stories that some children who may have a large vocabulary early on, still come out on top between 3 and 5 years.

I have not had to use this program as a mom but I have had to suggest this program to other moms as a preschool teacher. It is a good program and personally, I would not wait. Yes, there is a chance that she could be speaking better by next year, but why wait? The sooner that you can get her help the better. My son is 7 now and while his speech isn't severe, there are problems especially with certain sounds. Because it was not severe, he did not qualify for any programs. Now that he is older and is still having these issues, he qualifies but it is harder for him because he has said certain words/sounds the same way for 5 years now and is having to relearn how to say them correctly. Anyways, if this progam is available and she qualifies, then I say go for it.

You have a point.

I know this is an older post, but I wanted to reply just in case.  I had my son evaluated by babies can't wait at 2 years old.  They said that he had no speech or language delay and was fine.  At the age of 3, the responsibility goes to the school district.  I was extremely worried, so I had him tested through the local school district and it turned out that he had a severe receptive delay, severe expressive delay, and severe articulation delay.

I used to be a 1st grade teacher.  I now teach 7th.  I know the importance of speech when it comes to reading.  The sooner the better to be diagnosed.  I wish I would have had him tested privately after babies can't wait said he was fine.  I knew he wasn't.  I was told from a friend with connections that the reason they said he was fine was because there aren't enough SLPs in the area to serve the kids.  It's wrong.

Back to the point....If you feel something is off and babies can't wait says he is fine have him tested privately.

I had the initial evaluation. They said her expressive is moderately delayed. Everything else if off the charts. I'm supposed to have two more evaluation meetings to see if this would qualify her. Thank you for your response.

I know a couple of moms who use this program and they have been pleased with it. I don't know much about it, to be honest, but I know that it has made a huge difference in their kids.
