Hello all!! First of all, I prefer to say "special" versus disability, but this will help to make it clearer. I have "almost" 3 year old twins, Nathan and Nicholas, and Nathan was born with Down Syndrome. I have been a member of our local Twins Club for awhile now, but most of the time I feel like I do not belong. Everyone there has been vey friendly and supportive, but my situation is not "typical". It is very hard for me to be involved with the discussions because my twins do not do most typical "twin" things. I usually feel like I have two boys who were born maybe a year apart. Don't get me wrong, I would not change Nathan for the world, he is actually doing really great, but it has been hard. I have had the challenges of raising twins and the challenges of raising a Down's child all-together. I love being a mother to these two, but would like get to know anyone else who is going through a similar situation.
