Big sister/brother?

How do your twins interact? Does your "standard" twin tend to mother your "special" twin? Does one play the role of the big sister/brother?

Estelle is a very shy child and Léonie (my chromosomally enhanced daughter) is outgoing, no hangups. Estelle tends to hide behind Léonie by looking after her. As if Léonie were her shield, so to speak, so that she doesn't have to face the world.  Or at least that's the way I had looked at the situation.

The teachers tell me that, when in the playground, Estelle always has an eye on Léonie, no matter who she's playing with.

I suppose what I'm wondering is, does Estelle really look after Léonie because of her shyness or is this a standard thing in twins where one has special needs?
