Hi all,

I am new to this group. Sought it out really beacuse the birth of my second child is coming soon and I am bugging out. My first childs birth was in a hospital and was aweful so I decided to have this baby at home with a midwife.

The countdown has begun and I am sorts bugging out. My hormones are making me nutty I'm uneasy and unconfortable and a bit scared.

I really could use some encouragement and any advice any of you home/natural birthers may have to offer.

Thanks in advance!

~Jessica

Hey Mama! No worries. I had 2 home births and let me tell you I was a nervous wreak up until I went into labor. it's a normal feeling.

Trust in the thousands of years of history in your body. you will do amazing. your body is built perfectly to grow, birth, and nourish your baby.

do you have a midwife and/or doula?

Yes, I have a midwife, and one of her assistants is a doula, the others are midwives or home birthers themselves. Not sure who exactly will be attending the birth besides her.

Thank you for your kind words. Sometimes I feel like whats the big deal, I can do this. And others like I'm a sinking ship and I don't know how its possible.

I feel like I am in limbo right now because the birth is coming soon I just don't know when and do not know what to do with myself!!!

Aw...On the inside of every woman is a Strong powerful birth warrior and maybe you need a day to search your soul and meditate on why you are having all these negative feelings.

I also suggest taking the time to choose who is going to be at your birth because, this is something sacred. when you made this baby it was intimate and when this baby is birthed it is going to be just as intimate but, in a different way and when you get into the birthing time you might have people there that you just don't click with like you assumed you would. some women need everone there some want only their partner and their midwife there. maybe putting a little more planning into your birth will make you more comfortable.

As a doula I have attended nearly 100 births and I can tell you I hear these same things fomr nearly every mom and what usually helps is a little time to let these feelings out and really say them to yourself. sometimes a good cry helps.

The truth is that I dont have much support. I don't have alot of close strong women in my life as well, So I'm sure the fact that I am lonely on my journey(s) is reacking havoc on my soul.

Maybe a little further soul searching would be good....

I just peeked at your profile and it looks like you are not in my area. I highly suggest taking a birthing class aimed at natural birth and one that focuses on positive energy. also try finding moms groups with more holistic moms.

There is not a holistic moms group in my area. I have to go further north to get to one. I haven't been extremely proactive in trying to get to one of their meetings because last time I checked there was nothing happening. Same thing with the natural birthing classes, I have to go atleast 45+ minutes west I think it was to attend a bradley class.

Thanks for your offer! I'm in NJ so it would be one hell of a ways to come and doula my birth....lol.

I began to get scared as well around 36 weeks or so.  I wasn't sure if I was going to be able to do it...I was scared somethiong would go wrong.  It is totally normal, just like cold feet and you get it regaurdless of the type of birth you are planning...you would have the same feeli9ngs if you were planning a hospital birth.  I had two hospital births and my last # 3 was a home water birth.  I was scared too..  when I finally started labor, I was excited and then entranced in laboland...no bad thoughts popped into my head at all, and although it did hurt, it was quite tolerable and I would do it again in a heart5 beat.  You can do it...it's not too bad and is totally worth it!

Be patient , kind, and understanding.  Be the mom.
