Before I am at the hospital, should I go straight there like my doctor and sister are saying?

Or should I wait for regular strong contractions that are 3-5 minutes apart?

I mean, obviously if it breaks now I would go in, but once I reach 38+ weeks, then what?

I thought that once my water breaks there is risk on infection for me and the baby, regardless of the "nothing goes in the vagina" policy....

If nothing goes in the risk is pretty non existant. My first son was born 31 hrs after my water broke. My OB said that while she prefers mom's go to the hospital so they can be monitored for infection she doesn't insist on it. She just asks that if mom stays home that she monitors herself for infection.

how can there be a risk of infection if there is no chance of bacteria being introduced?
