I like castile soap mixed with a little almond oil and EO's.

There's a lot of different opinions on that topic.... but here are some borax-free recipes if you are interested :)

I use 1/2 bar fels naptha soap, grated (you can also use ivory), mixed with 2 cups borax and 2 cups washing soda.  I use about 1 TB per load.  It's also great for our regular clothes.

This is what I use.  I do use it on my cloth diapers, but I only cd with prefolds and covers; has NEVER caused an issue with my dipes.  Some brands of cloth diapers will void warranty if you use borax so it really depends on what you use.

I use a combination of AIOs, pockets, prefolds, hybrids and have been using my homemade powder detergent for almost four years between two babies in cloth with no troubles-

1 cup washing soda, 1 cup baking soda, 1/2 cup borax.  MIx well.  1-2 tbsp per load.
